What is Psychedelic Integration?
Psychedelics are one of the hottest new trends in the mental health field for some good reasons.
In clinical trials, these substances – including MDMA, LSD, Psilocybin, Ayahuasca, Ketamine, and others – demonstrate remarkable efficacy in treating problems that have been highly resistant to other treatments. Trauma, alcoholism, other compulsive behaviors, depression, and anxiety have all benefitted from various psychedelic experiences under the right circumstances.
However, these experiences only have lasting results when you take the lessons from them and integrate them back into your life (this is also true of other types of significant experiences, such as meditation retreats, wilderness experiences, or sweat lodges).
Such integration means that you are looking at the day-to-day habits of your life – the things you do, how you relate to others and the world around you, where you spend your money, and so forth – from the perspective of your newly gained insights, identifying which of those habits are keeping you locked into old ways of being, and making conscious changes to them.
Though this description makes it sound easy, this is usually the most challenging part because it’s where you pull insights into action, often against the resistance of other forces in your life.
Here’s what I offer.
As these substances are still largely illegal, and I am not a medical doctor, I do not offer any services facilitating these experiences or prescribing these substances. But I firmly believe that if you are contemplating or having these experiences, you should have a safe and well-informed space to work through the whole experience, from preparation to a complete integration process.
In that spirit, I offer individual therapy to help you make the most of these experiences. Together, we can understand what you are trying to get out of your journey, talk about how you can make sure you stay psychologically safe, and then work through your experience afterward in ways that can help you hold on to the insights you gained and make concrete changes in your life.
I also periodically offer integration groups where you can learn from others’ experiences.
So, if you’re contemplating a psychedelic experience, then reach out today to help you get the most out of it!
